 plant dyed New Zealand wool

20 grams CHF 4.4050 grams CHF 10.00 100 grams CHF 19.50

darkgreen

pflanzengefärbte Schafwolle, Märchenwolle

in batt form, coarse with a hairy texture, a wonderful sensual experience for children's hands.
dyed with: Reseda, Madder, Cochenille, Alkanna (henna), Indigo, birch leaves, dyer's broom, Catechu, ecru or gall apple

Plant dyes seem softer to the eye, because the pigment is not isolated. Compared with synthetic dyes, the natural colours always contain the whole colour circle, which gives an impression of wholeness. This New Zealand wool is coarser than Corriedale and very suitable for creating wool pictures, so that the wooly texture stays visible. This wool felts extremely fast. Even though coarser wool normally calls for a coarser needle, this wool reacts well to finer needles, resulting in a dense although somewhat rough surface.
